How to Move with a Pet
Moving can be stressful for anyone, there’s so much to do and so little time. It’s especially stressful on your pets. At Grady Management, we want to make sure all your feline friends move in with as little stress as possible! Here is a quick moving checklist to help you and your furry friend have a smooth move:
Contact your vet if you are moving out of the area so you can take records and prescriptions with you.
Prepare an easily-accessible “travel kit” with all the essentials to help keep your cat comfortable during the first few days of unpacking.
If you don’t have a secure carrier, make sure you have one before the move. Carriers should be secured with a seatbelt in the back seat.
The best way to reduce stress on your cat is to introduce the new space a little at a time. Many vets will suggest keeping them in a quiet area, like the bathroom, for about a week. Then letting them to explore their new home for short periods of time.
Your feline friend should be the last thing you move. Set up your new home as much as you can before moving your cat. This way they will see and smell familiar items when they arrive.
By following these five steps, your cat should experience the least amount of stress from moving into their new home. Ready to move? Give us a call!
