6 Tips to Stay Warm and Save this Winter

Winter is coming which means snow, the holidays, and hot chocolate. But with all the fun things associated with the season, there’s the need to keep your apartment warm and cozy. Here are some tips for making sure your apartment stays energy-efficient and warm this winter:


1. Put Down A Rug

If your floors feel cold, putting a rug down is a simple solution. it will not only keep your feet from feeling cold but will also add another layer of insulation. This is great for colder rooms without carpets like the bathroom and kitchen.

2. Rearrange the Furniture

Your heating system should not be blocking the heat from getting into the room. It sounds obvious, but it’s surprising how many times people unknowingly block or put things too close to their vents. It will also be chillier near the perimeter of your room so think about moving furniture closer to the center.

3. Turn Down the Heat At Night-Time

Invest in a comforter or heavy blanket to keep you warm at night. Load your couch with snuggly blankets and pillows. Celebrate the Holiday Season in Silver Spring

There’s a sleigh full of holiday events going on in the Silver Spring area! The White Oak communities are conveniently located to downtown Silver Spring and many other attractions in Montgomery County. We’ve rounded up a few seasonal local highlights coming up:

ICE! Featuring Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! is back and it’s a great opportunity to take the whole family out for an experience they won’t soon forget. See your favorite scenes from Dr. Seuss’ classic on ice. There are shows now through December 30th.

The Silver Spring Christmas Market and Holiday Craft Show returns on December 8th to Veterans Plaza. Check off everyone on your list from jewelry, arts and crafts, baked goods, skincare and much more. Walk around and enjoy the holiday cheer!

The National Menorah: Chanukah on the Ellipse is on Sunday, December 22nd at 4 pm. Enjoy hot latkes and donuts and a beautiful lighting ceremony.
